Dilworth School is an independent (private) boarding school for young men, years 7-13, and offers a fully funded wraparound education. Students achieve exceptional NCEA results at a level comparable with the highest performing NZ schools and excel in sports, music, arts and cultural endeavours, and outdoor education. The school, which has an Anglican tradition, was founded by the legacy of benefactor James Dilworth in 1906 and has grown to be one of the largest boarding schools in Australasia. The school is funded by an endowment which is administered by the Dilworth Trust Board, a significant owner of commercial and industrial property in Auckland.

Requirements:
- Commitment to approximately 20 hours per week, working a range of early morning, after school, evening and weekend shifts

Our Mission: Hamilton Girls' High School is dedicated to providing for girls in a caring environment and preparing our students to aspire to excellence, broadening their horizons and preparing them for the challenges of the 21st century.
Sonninghill Hostel aims to provide the best possible living arrangements for girls who board away from home to attend Hamilton Girls' High School. The Hostel accommodates up to 138 students.
We are seeking a Boarding Assistant to work our afternoon shifts (3pm until 10pm), school term time only, except Set Leave. This is a permanent, part-time position working 12 - 20 hours per week. As Sonninghill Hostel is a 24/7 operation there may be a need to assist at other times on a relief basis.
The successful applicant will hold a clean full drivers licence and will be:
- Punctual and Reliable
- Able to drive a 9 seater automatic van
- Physically fit – there are a lot of stairs

- Fun and able to entertain and engage teenage girls

You will provide exceptional support to the girls under the direction of the Duty Boarding Manager, ensuring orderliness and safety at all times.
The role also includes transporting students to activities in the 9 seater minivan, taking rolls using the online boarding management programme, monitoring of and positive interaction with students using on-site facilities to ensure high hygiene standards in all areas including the dining room and sleep areas, assisting with activities and settling girls at bed time in their dorms and rooms.
We encourage our girls to explore and challenge themselves, so you’ll need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with girls from all cultures and backgrounds.
Police vetting is essential.

TITLE: House Parent
LOCATION: Nexus Boarding House
Due to further expansion and anticipated growth in our Boarding House, we are looking for
additional staff to join our Boarding team.
JOB SUMMARY
House parents are responsible for the supervision and guidance of the Boarders in their care at
Nexus Boarding, including supervision of their living accommodation. House parents contribute
to the personal, social, emotional, academic, physical development and general well being of
Boarders.
JOB DUTIES
GENERAL
1. Effectively manages the Boarding House ensuring cooperation between Boarders and staff, a clean, tidy and respectable environment is maintained, rules, policies and procedures are adhered to.
2. Maintains own standard of dress in accordance with Nexus Boarding House Policy.
3. Effectively attends to administration tasks.
4. Works positively with a team, including effective communication, maintaining professionalism and demonstrating cooperation in attaining team goals.
5. Models appropriate behavior, attitude and values.
6. Displays a positive approach to the Boarding ethos.
7. Displays respect and tolerance for the diverse Nexus Boarding community.
8. Maintains a position of trust with Boarders.
9. Works cooperatively with other staff to ensure the well-being of our Boarders.
BOARDER BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT
1. Maintains a positive personal relationship with Boarders.
2. Develops and communicates fair and appropriate boundaries for Boarders.
3. Develops and implements logical and effective consequences for poor behavior when appropriate.
4. Recognizes and manages appropriate standards with ongoing behavior issues.
5. Maintains records and documentation regarding Boarder behavior.
BOARDERS’ PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
1. Monitors and encourages the personal and social development of individual Boarders.
2. Encourages a positive approach to health habits and social values.
3. Encourages and develops responsibility and leadership.
EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT
1. Encourages and maintains a positive environment for learning.
2. Participates in Prep reading activities and additional classes as required.
3. Monitors and reports on the academic progress of Boarders.
4. Follows up on concerns about individual Boarder’s academic performance and documents as appropriate.
5. Assists Boarders to develop their individual academic needs and vocational plans.
COMMUNICATION AND LIAISON
1. Keeps parents informed and seeks to involve them where possible.
2. Liaises closely with senior staff regarding Boarder concerns.
3. Maintains a practice of prompt and positive communication with teachers regarding concerns of Boarders.
4. Communicates effectively and respectfully with Boarders. NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: (Selection Criteria)
A. A qualification in teaching or nursing.
B. Excellent English language skills and ability to communicate confidently with Boarders, parents, senior staff and stakeholders.
C. Experience working with young people, or appropriate training and commitment to work with young people. (essential)
D. Ability to lead and supervise the care of young people in a residential setting contributing to their social, emotional, educational and physical development.
E. Commitment to working cooperatively with parents in the care and well-being of the Boarders.
F. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
G. A high standard of written skills.
H. Ability to problem solve, use initiative and be flexible.

Dunstan High School Director of Boarding
The Dunstan High School Board of Trustees is looking for a Director of Boarding for the school hostel. The Hostel is now 50 years old and we are looking for a passionate leader to maintain and develop our Hostel now and into the future.
This is an exciting opportunity to live and work in beautiful Alexandra, Central Otago.

The hostel currently houses 44 students in the 53 capacity facility catering for a mix of 5 and 7 day Year 7-13 boarders for the rest of 2025 moving to 5 day boarding in 2026. Most of these students come from within our region with a handful of national students from further afield. The property is situated adjacent to Dunstan High School, which is central to the wide range of facilities available, within the thriving town of Alexandra in the Central Otago Region.
The successful applicant will lead the team of Hostel employees including the Hostel Matron, supervisors, kitchen and cleaning staff. This position comes with a three bedroom family home as part of the package.
The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills, sound organisational skills with the ability to mix easily and effectively with all stakeholders. An empathy with, and understanding of, young people is an essential attribute of the successful applicant.
Start date: beginning of Term 2, 2025, or by mutual agreement. Salary to be negotiated with the successful applicant based on previous experience.
