As the Boarding House Manager, your primary objectives will include:
- Student Wellbeing/Pastoral Care: Providing essential care, guidance, and support to boarders, fostering a supportive and inclusive house environment.
- Health and Safety Management: Ensuring that all health and safety standards and protocols are adhered to within the house, promoting the well-being of students and staff.
- Property Management: Overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the house property to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment.
- Administration and Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records related to the house's activities, students' needs, and any incidents or concerns.
- House Activities: Organizing and supervising various house activities and events to enhance student engagement and community spirit.
- Housemaster Assistance: Supporting the Housemaster with administrative tasks to support the effective running of the House.
House Managers should possess the following qualifications and competencies:
- Show sensitivity towards the needs of young people and the dynamics of a house environment.
- Hold a current first aid certificate – ideal but not essential (can assist in obtaining)
- Hold a current driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record.
- Demonstrate experience in health and safety management.
- Stay updated on health and safety matters.
- Possess effective communication, listening, and organizational skills.
- Exhibit computer literacy and administrative skills.
- Demonstrate strong written communication skills.
- Have a good understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity.
- Maintain good health and stamina and the ability to handle stress effectively.
House Managers are expected to:
- Live onsite, attached to the boarding house
- Support and uphold the aims and policies of King’s College through their example, attitude, and genuine interest in its activities.
- Report to the Housemasters and work as part of a team led by the Housemasters.
- Act as caregivers and managers within their House.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive and caring attitude through respect, courtesy, and consideration for others, promoting appropriate student behaviour, and maintaining tidiness and pride in surroundings.

Deputy Director of Boarding, Christchurch Girls High School - closes 20 September 2024
Christchurch Girls’ High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora is a leading state day and boarding school for Years 9-13 students, located in the heart of Christchurch City by Hagley Park.
Acland House compromises of the original historic homestead and adjoining dormitory wings with places for 125 boarders from Year 9 to 13 whose place of residence is outside Christchurch. We are seeking a passionate, highly motivated and enthusiastic Deputy Director of Boarding to support the Director of Boarding and the boarding team to provide a positive, caring, respectful and safe environment. They will fosters the growth and development of our boarders to create a thriving boarding community. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, be an effective communicator, have good emotional intelligence and a sound understanding of pastoral care. As part of the leadership team they will demonstrate effective leadership, organisational and administration skills and have the ability to deputise for the Director of Boarding as required.
This is a permanent full-time position of 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. This position is required to live onsite at Acland House.

Morning Supervisor: (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 6:30am-10am)
We are a girls Boarding House and have 130 female students aged from 13 – 18 resident seven days a week during school terms.
We are looking to recruit a Morning Supervisor whose responsibilities will be to work closely with the House Managers and the Assistant Principal with responsibility for Epsom House to maintain a safe and supportive environment for students at the house. As a Morning Supervisor you will be responsible for looking after the facility and students during the course of the breakfast and morning routines to ensure the safety of all girls at the hostel.
Some of your duties will include, but are not limited to: doing the morning wake up, monitoring and assisting sick students, ensuring all students are taking adequate food to sustain them for the day, ensuring daily duties are done, and making sure students get off to school in a timely manner.
Hours of work are between Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 6:30am - 10:00am (term time only - all meals provided).
This job would suit a person who can form positive relationships with students and uphold health and safety guidelines at all times during the hours stipulated. You must be able to work consistently with routines. The successful applicant must be currently in New Zealand and hold the appropriate working visa.
Breakfast is included.

Nga Tawa is a special character boarding and day school for year 9-13 girls in Marton, Rangitīkei. We are seeking a dynamic and committed Junior Boarding Manager with responsibility for Year 9 or 10.
Reporting to the Director of Wellbeing, the role is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of our junior boarding environment. Flexibility, excellent communication and an understanding of adolescent teenager girls and cultural diversity is essential, as is a clean driver’s licence and a current first aid certificate. Applicants with management experience and those with an education or health care background will be well suited to the role.
Days and hours of work during the school term are negotiable with some holiday work required for professional development and planning. Onsite accommodation may be available if required.

This role requires an average of 16 hours per week of work in boarding and is made up of morning, afternoon and evening shifts. About the opportunity
The role of Weekend Boarding Supervisor is required in term time only, and hours are on a shift roster, (approx. 35 hrs per week, including sleeping overnight on Friday and Saturdays). The role involves day time caregiving of the Boarding students when they are not at school, both in the afternoon and morning, and sleeping in the Boarding House overnight to be available if needed.
In this role, you can expect diverse responsibilities including:
- Day to day running of the House.
- Be available to girls at all times, taking care of their wellbeing.
- Foster a safe physical and emotional environment for the girls.
- Create trust, respect and caring attitudes to enable independence.
- Liaise with parents, staff and girls.
- Maintain accurate records, using computer software.
- Comply with all policies and procedures regarding safety.
About you
- You will have excellent communication skills and be an empathic, non-judgemental listener.
- Have a good understanding and tolerance of teenagers.
- Be presentable and have good judgement.
